Monitor Ergonomics: How to Create a Healthier Setup

Monitor ergonomics plays a vital role in maintaining comfort, posture, and visual health during extended screen use. A poorly positioned monitor can contribute to neck strain, eye fatigue, and shoulder discomfort, even when the display itself is high quality.

Proper monitor placement involves more than adjusting the screen height. Viewing distance, tilt, brightness, and alignment with the user’s natural posture all influence a more comfortable and productive workstation.

Monitor ergonomics concerns the positioning and adjustment of a display to support comfortable, neutral posture during computer use. Proper setup can reduce unnecessary strain on the neck, shoulders, eyes, wrists, and upper back.

Place the monitor directly in front of you, with its top edge approximately level with your eyes or slightly below. This position helps keep the head balanced rather than tilted upward or bent forward.

The viewing distance should generally be between 50 and 把70 centimetres, depending on screen size and visual comfort. Text should remain clear without requiring users to lean toward the display or squint.

Adjust the screen angle to minimise reflections from windows and overhead lighting. A height-adjustable stand, monitor arm, or riser can improve alignment, while regular changes in posture and brief visual breaks support comfortable long-term use.
